Before coming to Southampton, Alex and I spent a few days in London. It was great to have a catch up with family, and we got to take a friend of ours on a pit-stop sightseeing tour of London. Tonight we enjoyed a wonderful Cunard event in Southampton where we met some faces that some of you might be familiar with!

Today Alex and I left the Novotel to board Celebrity Eclipse from City Terminal in Southampton. In this entry I’ll share my first impressions.

Our first sea day sees us crossing the rather rough (at least on this occasion) Bay of Biscay. Today we attended a galley tour and a lecture on the history of stand-up in the USA, I had my first spa experience, and we enjoyed our first formal night on board. I thought I’d also do a more in-depth look at the stateroom.

Today will be a relatively short entry on account of us not doing very much! The sun is out, the seas are calm, and we finally got to see this ship’s outdoor spaces being enjoyed as they were meant to be! We attended a roll call meet-up, and soaked up the sun.

Today we docked in Malaga at 12:00 where Alex and I spent several hours exploring and soaking up the atmosphere of this popular coastal resort. We spent a few hours in the the Sky Observation Lounge then had a wonderful dinner in Tuscan Grill. Entertainment was from the Celebrity Eclipse cast.

Today was our third sea day where we saw a talk on TV, a presentation on pasta, and some hot glass in the sun. We were back in the MDR for dinner, then we saw a Scottish Singer.

Today we visited Cannes in France, our first and only tender port. We dined in Qsine tonight and enjoyed a Chinese Magician in the theatre after dinner.

Today Alex and I were in Civitavacchia, where we were on a Celebrity organised shore excursion to see the Colosseum and Forum in Rome. In the evening, we make a difficult decision about our plans for Livorno tomorrow.

Today I feel slightly better, but still not perfect. I didn’t want to let that stop me seeing another port of call, so I visited Genoa, even if just for a wander around. Dinner was in the MDR, and we saw Eclipse: The Show, followed by some live stand-up.

Today was another sea day which allowed further relaxation to aid my recovery. I attended another Gid Pool talk on stand-up comedy, had a delicious tea in Café al Bacío, and saw some ventriloquy in the theatre. I also have news about a famous visitor for tomorrow’s show…

Today we were docked in Gibraltar from 1pm, and had a lazy morning. For the first time we tried breakfast in Moonlight Sonata, dinner in Murano, and saw the wonders of Bobby Davro.

Today we visited the port of Lisbon in Portugal, had some fun on the slots in the casino, and were back in the MDR for dinner. It’ll be a short post today; really!

Today was our second last full day at sea, and second last full day on the cruise! We went to the exciting Hot Glass Show auction, enjoyed lots of tea, and had a look at the shops on the ship. We also read a lot!

Today is our last day on Celebrity Eclipse, and we tried to make the most of it. We went to a Star Chef cooking show, watched people get excited over cheap stuff, and tried to pack in the downtime!
